Jean-Joël ARTAUD,
CANDIDATE TO THE 2026 MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS, 67 years,
Independent Candidate
Married
3 children 4 grandchildren
I was born and I grew up in Seillans in a family deeply rooted in the village for generations . My mother worked at the Post Office and my father for the Town Hall.
I had a happy childhood in the Pre Claux hamlet, studying at the Lorgues High School. In 1977, I started my professional life in Marseille in the CEGELEC company as a technician. At the same time, I took correspondence courses.
At the end of the year 1981, I joined EDF-GDF and I continued my career in this company until the end 2018. I then retired after 37 successful years as a team leader including 25 years as a team leader ( with 10 years in network management in PACA and Languedoc Roussillon ) (165 employees).
During my career I could build relationships with key players from the public authorities. I still have fond memories when I was learning how to lead teams, how to create relationships with customers and municipalities. In addition, I still maintain very strong ties with a great number of mayors.
I also keep in mind a great memory that was the springboard for new skills : collaborating with the Bouches du Rhöne Prefecture and the govemment agencies to set up crisis units in the department in keeping with all sorts of climate events or network incidents for instance.
In 2018, at long last, I came back with my wife Aline, to live full time in Seillans. I didn’t intend to remain idle, thus I got involved in all sorts of associations in Seillans. In 2020, I became a town councillor on the majority list.
This 6-year-experience as a town councillor in Seillans was quite positive in many aspects, especially working with the Town Services people to whom I am deeply thankful for their support and kindness. I improved my knowledge on the management of the town affairs, I forged links with the Communauté de Communes, the Department and the Region.
On the other hand,l was keenly disappointed by our mayor’s authoritarian and secret management, which gives no room for actual participation, democratic debate , or even for people forming the town council to express themselves.
I was quite concerned that the mayor should remain deaf to the objections of several council members, when it became obvious that under his mayoralty the expectations of a number of villagers would remain ignored.
The decline of our town, some unfortunate decisions, the lack ofinterest for Seillans social and commercial life combined with mismanagement must stop.
After enjoying an exciting professional life, both in the private and public sectors, my current experience as a town councillor along with an active involment in associations, I remain deeply attached to my territory and its inhabitants.
I now wish I could place my skills at the service of our town through simple and ambitious goals, i.e: driving Seillans out of its apathy, while not forgetting any areas, boosting commercial activities, cultural events, sustainable development and putting human beings at the heart of our action.
To achieve that, I suggest working for you at the head of an independent, plural, enthusiastic, competent team, which is also parity-based and deeply involved in our village life. This team is composed of various talents and it will have ample opportunity in its areas of expertise to conduct the projects listed in the electoral manifesto that you will have validated through your vote.
I do have trust in Seillans: in its human potential in all fields such as art, culture, tourism, natural heritage or commercial activities. Our village needs the lifeblood of a united and motivated team to lead the change we all wish for !
Seillanaisement yours, Jean-Joël ARTAUD
